A Star-And-Sample-Studded Return

The Avalanches is an Australian group that makes music filled to the brim with a wealth of diverse samples layered together into some manner of hip-hop-infused dance-pop. Their first album, Since I Left You, become one of the most memorable albums from 2000 and has been held in high esteem since. The album was shaped from literally thousands of samples that found new life in the group's tracks. 16 troubled years later the follow up to that great album finally emerged.

The anticipation for Since I Left You's successor was finally rewarded with the gift of another kaleidoscopic album, Wildflower. This time around, creative sampling from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, The Beatles, and numerous hidden gems we've never heard of is paired with live collaborations that the group's previous success has allowed them; voices like Danny Brown, Biz Markie, and Josh Tillman (a.k.a. Father John Misty) decorate The Avalanches' tracks in Wildflower. Voices from the forgotten past and the fresh-faced present come together in The Avalanches' orchestration: a blending of genres and times reformed into a standalone classic.

Thanks, Tylar.
