Wowed By Young Folk

The Brazen Youth are a couple of teens that graduated from high school this year, 2016. The Ever Dying Bristlecone Man is the second album made by those teens, Charles Dahlke and Nick Lussier of Lyme or New London, Connecticut. I happened upon the track "Pleo" this past week and after a few listens I must say that the efforts of these youngsters have me massively impressed.

Recording and re-recording and producing the tracks as the Ashlawn Recording Company, the two are a dedicated team and the end product is fantastic. The Brazen Youth shape their own broad identity from a bedrock of folk and rock and wall of sound influences. Thoughtful lyrics, which sometimes become a weight on themselves, are always supported by strong melodies and arrangements; Charles even plays the singing saw! How could you not give these guys a chance?

Thanks, Apple Music.
