M83 is an ambient progressive-pop shoegaze band that first gained international acclaim for Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts in 2003. At the time, M83 included two Frenchmen, Anthony Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau. A few years later, Fromageau left the group to pursue solo projects while Gonzalez continued the M83 moniker through several albums, including 2011's epic double album, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming.

Hurry Up, We're Dreaming's ambient synthpop and complex textures form a thematically and emotionally expansive experience. Movie trailers, mashups, tv shows, and ski edits have used several tracks from the mythic 73-minute journey to the point of exhaustion. Gonzalez takes personal pride in the album and rightfully compares its ambition to that of The Smashing Pumpkin's Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Music made for watching the world with wide-eyes.

In recent years, M83 has naturally been busy scoring grandiose and awe-inspiring music for movie soundtracks ("Oblivion" and "You and the Night").

Thanks, Internet.
