Whitney is the project of songwriting duo of Julien Ehrlich and Max Kakacek. While both are experienced musicians and songwriters, Light Upon the Lake is their joint debut since the breakup of Smith Westerns. Released earlier this year, the nostalgic and melancholic indie pop rock truly impresses.

Singing falsetto and drumming, Julien propels the melodies and the rhythm with Max providing the excellent riffs and jangles on guitar. Numerous companions contribute with brass, strings, and percussion to flesh out the pair's already strong sound for a stellar album.
